Pinup Girl Clothing Queen of Hearts Skirt

Lately, I've had tremendously good luck getting discontinued prints from a Facebook swap/sell group I'm part of. In the past month or so, I've picked up my ultimate unicorn, the tiki-print Jenny skirt, the tomato-print dress I'd loved from afar for ages, and the subject of today's post: the Queen of Hearts print!

I got this one at the same time as the tomato dress, but had been waiting to wear it until I found a top worthy of its novelty-print perfection. Fortunately, it didn't take too long. When I got this olive peasant top from Pinup Girl Clothing, I knew that the time had come to bust out this skirt. Obviously, I couldn't resist the urge to stick with the Queen of Hearts theme, hence the red wicker heart purse.

My favorite part about this skirt (apart from 'everything') is the amazing detail of the print. The print was designed by an artist named Stephanie Buscema, who has this wonderful, super-distinctive, slight-fractured-fairy-tale/'This is Halloween' style that I really dig. There is so much detail in the skirt, which means that 1) it can be worn with a zillion different colors, and 2) it's awesome. I also really like that the background is green at the hem, but gradually fades to yellow.
Seriously, look at the playing cards scattered along the top half of the skirt!

Jenny skirts are eminently suited to twirling!

This is one of those rare times when the sudden gust of wind didn't ruin the photo!

For those of you who missed out on this skirt, it should be coming back, though there's no firm timeline on that yet. Keep an eye on PUG's Facebook, though; that's where I saw it confirmed that they intend to restock this skirt.

How would you style this skirt? I'm thinking of stripes for its next outing, but would love to hear what everyone else thinks!

  1. Ya, congrats on your lucky finds lately! This outfit is so lovely on you. The top goes so perfectly with that skirt. Peasant tops are just the best.

  2. I'm dyyyyyyyiiinnnngggg over waiting for this skirt! I almost got it so many times, thought I'd wait for a sale...and then it was never restocked! And green is the first color that I want to wear with it too! You look awesome, and the hint of purple under the petticoat is also an inspiring color combo!!! XO

  3. Aw, I hope it hurries up so you can get your hands on one! I have a purple sweater that I am dying to try out with this skirt and the Italian landscape one. Green is always a good choice, though, at least in my opinion!
