Maternity Photo Shoot!

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to spend a leisurely morning with my friend Devinne, strolling around the University of Chicago campus for a maternity photo shoot (!!!) before eating all the brunch. I'm beyond excited to share some of the photos from our shoot with you today! Brace yourself for a zillion exclamation points (and photos)...

I've admired Devinne's photography skills since long before we met in person, so when she offered to do a baby-bump shoot with me, it was really a dream come true! Her photos just have the most magical, luminous quality to them, and in our previous blog-shoot adventures, I picked up so many awesome ideas and pointers. She's so good at evoking a mood through her poses and composition, and I couldn't wait to see what she came up with when given full run of UChicago's Gothic-splendor campus! I also secretly hoped she'd enjoy shooting in such an architecturally-rich spot, since she always finds the loveliest places for her own shoots and I wanted to find an interesting setting that she might not otherwise visit.

Devinne is totally the master of the details shot, and I really love this photo of my baby girl! Ever since we decided to do this shoot, I haven't been able to stop thinking about how I'll someday be able to show these photos to my daughter. It's thinking about all the things I'll do with the baby that makes this pregnancy feel so real and so exciting to me. (Coincidentally, it makes me unable to focus on much else!)

Fun fact: I genuinely did not know how to do anything besides think a happy thought and grin for the camera before my first time shooting with Devinne last October. As you can see from these photos, she had much more interesting ideas than my usual 'turn sideways, hold belly, snap photo, send to Mom' #bumpie approach!

When this was taken, I was 100% thinking about someday showing these photos to the baby.

Anyway, I am just so delighted by these photos, and I'm already looking forward to the pilgrimage Devinne and I are planning to the town that Groundhog Day was filmed in! Thank you for memories and photos that I'll treasure forever, Devinne.

  7. Oh I love these photos so much, especially the ones of you thinking about showing them to the baby in the future! Perfect. You are so lovely! I also love seeing you in this kind of silhouette when your amazing full skirts almost hide the bump- at least in 2D photos!!

Also, I'm sure you've heard this a lot, I can't wait to see how you dress that baby when it arrives!! Anticipating sooooo much cuteness!!
