Review: Collectif Dolores Bloom Dress

In my continuing quest to embrace body positivity and love the wiggle silhouette, the Collectif Dolores dress has been a major asset. After seeing how amazing one of my Instagram friends always looks in her Doloreses, I picked one up on super-sale over the summer, and was shocked by how confident I felt in it. Thus, when Collectif recently had a free international shipping promotion, I took advantage of the opportunity to order the half-sleeve Bloom pencil dress that I'd been eyeing, rather than one of the Autumn/Winter swing dresses I've also had on my wishlist.

And I'm not gonna bury the lede here, people: everything about this dress is perfect. I've worn it to work once a week since it arrived. It's that good. The print and colors are gorgeous, the cut is work-friendly but still super fun, it has perfect half-sleeves that stay put when I throw on a cardigan, and it has those adorable oversized Dolores buttons. I'm a big fan of the length, too: at 5'2", it hits just below my knee, which still leaves plenty of short-leg real estate to show off my tights.

The stretchy cotton fabric is incredibly comfortable too, which is a major plus in any dress I'll be wearing at work. Unlike my beloved leopard Vamp dress, this is an everyday wiggle, suitable for a meeting with your boss or coffee with a friend. Best of all, it looks great with either red or green accessories! As someone with three different olive green cardigans, this print is easy to style a different way each time I wear it.

I framed this shot to 1) capture the early-morning light and 2) cut out the cars on Columbus Drive.
Well, there's nothing wrong with the classic 'hand on hip and do what comes naturally' pose!

I ordered this dress in the 12, which is the size I have in my other Collectif dresses, and it fits quite well. There's a hint of stretch in the fabric, so the 18.5" armpit-to-armpit measurement fits my 39" bust comfortably, and the dress measures 15.5"/19.5" in the waist/hips.

This is one of my last fall-leaves photo shoots from 2016, and I must say, it certainly was glorious while it lasted! If there's a better backdrop for photographing a burgundy dress, I certainly haven't found it yet. The foliage in Museum Campus certainly did justice to my new favorite print from Collectif, and the Dolores pencil dress has shot to the top of my heavy-rotation dresses. I've crossed all my fingers and toes that they'll bring out more prints in this perfect half-sleeve style. What are your favorite workwear styles?
