Sci Fi Rockets

It's been a truly epic month for unicorn hunting: I've gotten my hands on some pieces I never thought would ever be mine, including my top two Trashy Diva must-haves. A sweet friend of mine decided to let both her French Quarter skirt and her Sci-Fi Rockets Rockette dress go, and offered to sell them to me, so perhaps 'unicorn hunting' isn't really the right phrase to use. It was more like 'unicorn oh my god yes please I would love to buy these from you *keyboard smash of maximum excitement!*'

I don't even care that my hair is all wonky here, because this photo perfectly captured the way this dress makes me feel.

Anyway, as soon as I beheld this amazing dress, it immediately rocketed to the top of my favorites list. (#sorrynotsorry for the terribad pun!) I'd been searching for the Annette in this long-discontinued, desperately sought-after print, but once I put this dress on, I was head over heels in love with it. It's the most comfortable halter I've ever owned, the pockets are enormous, and the neckline is work appropriate with a cardigan to cover my bare shoulders. Sans cardigan, it shows off the shoulder muscles I'm so proud of and makes me feel incredibly confident.

To the best of my knowledge, the Rockette dress only came in this print, but after wearing this one around, I've found myself wishing that Trashy Diva would release this style in other colors/prints in the future. Now that I've found a strapless bra that works, the world of halters and other odd necklines is my oyster, and I intend to live it up.

The collar reminds me of Jack Skellington's, and makes me think of 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder'

This print is everything!
Dress: Trashy Diva
Belt: Pinup Girl Clothing
Earrings: Atomic Lucite
Shoes: Steve Madden

Coincidentally, this dress arrived on the same day that NASA launched the OSIRIS REx mission to gather samples from a nearby asteroid! The future is here, everybody, and we're already living in it. I'll have to remember to wear this dress in 2023, when the samples return to Earth!

I am definitely not going to put this dress away for the winter, so help me out: how would you winterize a print like this?

    1. You are the best ever -- thank you so much! I'm definitely going to wear this with my boomerang brooch next time <3!! This dress is so much more flattering than I ever dreamed, too, but even if it was a shapeless sack, I'd probably still wear it. The print is THAT epic!
