Berry Chantilly Hopscotch

Every time Trashy Diva releases a new collection, I drop everything, flail around in excitement for a little while, and order immediately. Every time, that is, except once. The Berry Chantilly release coincided with my unintentional hiatus from the internet, so I discovered that the new collection had dropped several days after the fact. The horror! Thankfully, my new favorite cut, the Hopscotch, was still in stock in my size, so this tale has a happy ending.

I'm gonna take a bold position here: Trashy Diva's stretch rayon is the best thing to happen in the retro-reproduction world in ages. Full stop. I'm over halfway through my pregnancy and I'm still wearing all of my stretch rayon dresses. If this isn't magic, then I'm not sure what your definition of magic is. The size 10 I'm wearing here is true to the size chart, but the stretch fabric has enough leeway for my growing bump.

This dress is Peak Emily: it's covered in dainty strawberries, has a full circle skirt and a fun collar, and it's as comfortable as the day is long. The print reminds me a little bit of the type of casserole dishes my father's mother would've had in her kitchen, which means TD definitely nailed the 1940s vibe. I was a little nervous that this shade of yellow would make me look sallow, but somehow (I'm guessing more magic?) this seems to be a hue that works on just about everybody.

The Hopscotch is very similar to my absolute favorite TD dress ever, the Venice Nights Circle Day Dress, which might help to explain why I love this one so much. It has the single on-seam pocket, epic circle skirt, and beautiful sparkly buttons of my Day Dress, plus a cute little back cutout and hook-and-eye closure at the collar. I would happily fill my closet with Hopscotches and Day Dresses, provided they all come in this fabric! (Well, if I'm honest, I'd probably get them no matter what fabric they came in.)

I couldn't resist a slightly over-the-top choice of accessories to really drive home the fact that yes, this dress is absolutely covered in strawberries, so I grabbed this wicker purse and my Atomic Lucite strawberry brooch, then threw on more red. Mission dress-like-a-human-fruit-salad accomplished!

The Hopscotch in Berry Chantilly is still in stock on TD's website, and if you like adorable fruit prints in velvety-soft, unbelievably comfortable stretch rayon, you'd best snap one up!

    1. I can't resist a good novelty purse, particularly in the shape of my favorite fruit! Picking a favorite novelty print is almost as hard as I imagine picking a favorite child is ;).

  13. I was totally surprised to read that you didn't snap this up the day it came out, as it's so you! You look amazing, and I loved how you paired the strawberry print with that bag (which is super cute by the way).

My novelty print would have to be, stereotypically, florals. I love anything with roses!
